Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0: You are (not) alone

Finally, the long awaited Rebuild of Evangelion has reached the shores of Singapore. About time man. It was out in Japan September last year and now only reach Singapore. Now it's time to mind fuck our brains once more over again !

The rebuild series will consist of 4 parts. The first is this current one, second is almost being released in Japan while the last 2 are unconfirmed of their release date yet. As a special, the 4th movie would be a special ending made for this rebuild series. I definitely can't wait for some sick shit to happen ! Eva is a already a sick ass anime. The new ending will keep Eva fans hording over every single news Gainax will release.

Cy, Bk, Sicko, Dav, Ho, lagger and I met up to watch Eva1.0. As a long time Eva fan(since 1996) I am definitely pleased and happy with the outcome of the remake of the anime series. On the big screen with major sound effects and overhauls for certain scenes of the movie, it was definitely a winner to me. All the major scenes were included and somehow those scenes that were not included were very well left out as it didn't really enforce the story much. Nice cutting done by the editors.


The Eva prototype mech itself was pimped up as well ! Sharper details, more vibrant color, new glow in the dark neon green shades, revamped design blade and more. Awesome ! The music and sound effects were very well co-ordinated and composed for the movie. It gave the movie a full depth and feel to it, as if I never watched the series before. The characters were re-drawn into a more sharp and crisp detailed version of their past counterparts. The hair has more line details, more shading over the face and deep creases in clothes. It's high res Eva at it's best! This is definitely what kept me glued to the big screen. Though i noticed someone falling asleep during the movie LOL. Can't blame also, this story has quite a fair amount of dialog and requires patience and deep understanding of what the characters are saying in the show.

This movie is definitely recommended for any anime otaku. It has an insane, psychopathic, sick and twisted storyline. You dont like mechs? Cute anime girls? It's fine. As long you are into a very mind-fuck storyline, have patience and enough understanding to last you through the whole series without yawning, come get your Eva baby !

Now it's time for some food porn LOL. We had Pepper Lunch for dinner at Takashimaya. It has your choice of meat being plated with rice on a hot plate and you have to cook it according to what style you want. There are sauces on the table for you to mix and blend whatever shit you wanna whip up. I wasn't gutsy enough to eat my meat raw so i had to cook it up somehow or rather. Let the pictures speak the words !

The food overall was not bad. Points for the creativity oneself can whip up as you cook your own food. Personally I think the portion ain't cutting it for me as its too small for my stomach. LOL. It has its uniqueness and appeal as its own which stands out from normal restaurants.

The caramel was in action as well, Cy ordered it, rest of us went with green tea.

The desserts were pretty sweet, as expected. One more thing, its hollow inside that swirl of sugary delight. Yes, hollow. Cheated ?

Ultraman game drawing a crowd.

As we were roaming around Plaza Singapura, we saw a small crowd gathering. A bunch of kids were mass playing an Ultraman PS2 game. They were so active and hyper about the game so much that the crowds slowly builds on. Furthermore, from our observation, the game is pretty neat as well. I'll try to get my hands on that game if i can.

Before the watching Eva, we stumbled upon this gourmet popcorn shop. Knowing that we couldn't resist different variations from the norm, we decided to try out a flavor.

So there were 4 flavors, we voted and out casted the non-desirable ones and therefore ended up with the large Caramel Corn with Honey Almond. Caramel corn was the generic one you see around every cineplexes. Cheddar cheese and the sour cream variation just wont dig it as we felt like having an insulin-spiking sugar rush.

OMG!!!!! CARAMEL HONEY OVERDOSE

The popcorn was delicious, one of the best i have ever eaten. It doesnt ahve those shitty microscopic pieces that takes ages and alot of hassle to get out of the container. Just large bite size chunks. I like. One downside would be that it is abit too sweet and the almond pieces are abit too little. I'm picky, LOL. Another downside would be, some pieces are abit soft and soggy while some other pieces are crunchy and crisp. Other than these 2 flaws the rest are good to go.

Eva movie was great, food was great, company was great. Couldn't ask more out of life. I'm contented.
